Palm Centro Review
•Palm Centro is a very
small, lightweight smartphone from Palm. In fact it's the smallest
smartphone ever from Palm, still they manage to pack the front side
with a 320 x 320 resolution pixel touchscreen and a QWERTY keyboard.
Pretty impressing! This is a very popular phone and not without a
reason. Testimonials from Centro users, practically scream with joy
over this smartphone.
Screen
The Palm Centro display is very impressive for its size, with a
320x320 resolution it's crystal clear and has a high pixel density.
Along with the QWERTY keyboard, Centro's touchscreen dominate the front
of the device.
Software
Not much has changed in the Palm OS,
but that is not always negative. Palm stands for simplicity with
functionality and has been doing so over the years. The applications
run fast and smooth, fast response times might be more imortant than
all the cool graphical elements. The Personal Information
Management(PIM) applications are the sam as always, Calendar, Memos,
Tasks etc. All you need to stay organized.
Keyboard
A QWERTY keyboard is somehow squeezed into the front, the buttons are
quite small and that can be a problem if your hands are big. But it's
not a deal breaker, it just takes som time to get used to. Women and
children, with smaller hands, should be able to adapt faster
though. It's certainly better
than no keyboard at all.
Multimedia
With the camera you can record video and take pictures. The camera
is located on the back, with 1.3 megapixel. The quality of the pictures
have really increased when compared to earlier models like the Treo 680.
One should always keep in mind that cameras on smartphones, for the
most part, is not like a high end standalone digital camera.
Conclusion
Palm Centro is a great purchase if you can live without all the cool graphical features held by e.g iPhone. But the functionality is there to stay organized, the platform also have alot of third party applications that the iPhone lacks.
